An aquatic way to enjoy El Chaltén! If you are tired of walking and want an adrenaline fueled adventure enjoy an amazing trip down the River de las Vueltas, views of the mountains and the stunning canyon full of amazing geological faults carved out by the river itself. This activity fits in perfectly for arrival/ departure days into Chaltén.
We start the activity at the Rafting base of operations. The guides hand out and show us how to use the dry suits. They also teach us the basics of paddling as part of a team! Ready for adventure, we start our descent down the River de las Vueltas, a distance of about 16km. The first section is gentle, allowing time for learning the basics of paddling and safety. Later we enter the zone of rapids where our attention jumps between following the guide’s instructions, the adrenaline running through our veins making us feel very much alive and admiring the landscape that we pass; the unique sedimentary formations that so characterize this canyon. At the end of the trip, a vehicle will be ready to take us back to El Chaltén. This trip takes place in the morning and in the afternoon, so you can do it on the day you arrive in the afternoon or on the day you leave in the morning.
